JavaScript ES6 was used to create Nimiq, making it possible to run entirely in an internet browser without syncing to a node. Everything about this system is user-friendly, so one doesn't need prior knowledge of crypto, blockchain, or P2P networks to get started using them.

Nimiq Team and Founders
Since mainnet launched, the team has focused on system development, community building, and marketing. In December 2019, the team terminated the NET smart contract, with over 80 % of NIM tokens activated.
Philipp von Styp-Rekowsky and Robin Linus co-founded Nimiq. Currently, the website lists 18 additional team members. In January 2019, Linus returned following a six-month sabbatical and announced his issues with the project on Reddit.
