On Monday, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Attorney General Pam Bondi to confirm any ongoing probes into decentralized exchanges such as PancakeSwap and Uniswap, and requested a response by Jan. 12. Her letter coincided with Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott delaying a markup of the Responsible Financial Innovation Act to 2026.

Aave founder and CEO Stani Kulechov said the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has closed a roughly four-year investigation into the DeFi protocol. In a Tuesday X post, he shared an Aug. 12 SEC letter stating it does not intend to recommend enforcement. AAVE rose more than 3% in the past 24 hours to $187.85.

A YouGov poll for the UK Financial Conduct Authority reported that the share of UK adults holding crypto dropped to 8% in 2025 from 12% in 2024, based on interviews conducted between Aug. 5 and Sept. 2. Despite fewer holders, more respondents reported larger crypto positions, with many owning Bitcoin and Ether, and a notable minority holding Solana. The data was released the same day the FCA opened consultations on new rules for exchanges, staking, lending and DeFi.

The SEC's crypto task force convened its sixth roundtable on Monday, bringing regulators together with industry representatives to examine financial surveillance and user privacy. Commissioner Hester Peirce argued that crypto is prompting a reassessment of financial privacy, while participants from Zcash, the Blockchain Association and the Crypto Council for Innovation weighed in on policy implications.

The Pyth Network plans to establish a reserve composed of PYTH tokens purchased on the open market using roughly one-third of its protocol revenue routed through its DAO. The initiative aims to support the token’s market structure as PYTH has fallen over 80% in the past year, while similar buyback proposals have also surfaced in other DeFi communities such as Aave and Mango Markets.
